  6. Title: PC-Net Shell Driver Correction

  8. A problem has been found with the workstation shell driver for
  9. Orchid Technology, Santa Clara Systems and AST PC-Net. The
  10. problem appears when a workstation is running an application such as
  11. Word Perfect or Lotus 123. If the workstation is left without any
  12. activity for five to ten minutes while running either of those
  13. applications, the workstation will hang, leaving all the files open on
  14. the server. In order to clear the hang the station must be re-booted.

  16. This problem is corrected by replacing the "SHELLDRV.OBJ" with a
  17. corrected version. This correction is available from Novell Field
  18. Service or from the Novell NetWare Center without cost. The new
  19. driver is installed as follows:

  21. 1.Locate your working copy of the "GENSH-1" diskette.
  22.  
  23. 2.Copy the new "SHELLDRV.OBJ" file into the "PCNET"
  24. directory replacing the earlier version.

  26. 3.Re-link your workstation shells in the ordinary manner.
  27. This will link new shells with the corrected driver.

  29. 4.Use these new shells and/or the NETBIOS emulator instead
  30. of the old ones.

  32. Santa Clara and Orchid Technology customers may receive correct
  33. copies for their respective versions by contacting Orchid or Santa
  34. Clara Systems.
